Re-launching my blog.
After some shuffling of the social medias and web site things, I am finally getting around to re-launching a blog. This is my first post in a long time (though there are a few old comedic posts lingering). There are a few things that have sparked this:
I am really working through my stories now and I need a place to put things. Whether I’m writing a chapter or a short entry for a contest, I usually drop between 10,000-50,000 words then pare down to 10% of that. Some of that stuff I cut out is neat and I’d like to share it. So that’s the first part. (Also, I know that seems insane to write that much at one time but I write everything – not just the surroundings and exposition and whatnot, but also the background things, multiple points of view, how things connect to the underlying mystery.)
I attended the 2017 Writer’s Digest Conference in New York City. While there I met a bunch of cool people and have since become quite active on Twitter. The writer community there is amazing – there are all kinds of chats, writing prompts, and other things that are encouraging or helpful. Sometimes, 280 characters or a thread isn’t quite enough to explain something the right way.
With any luck, I’ll be moving forward on a lot of goals this year and I plan to turn this into a real author website with news and other stuff that you typically find. Since I am not published, everything is very plain for now. Let’s hope that changes!
Anyway, thanks for reading! Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have questions or comments with the link in the footer.
